At times, this quarantine is really getting to me. One week I’m doing great, working and writing posts and feeling productive, but last week was not like that. I had a headache and felt dizzy, spent every day in my pyjama’s watching Netflix and doing nothing at all, until eventually, I was done with it. Banging on the bars of my cell, otherwise known as my windows, crying and screaming to get out.
I felt locked-up, going crazy with need for adventure, for doing something else than spending time at home. I just really need to go. The next day, Boyfriend had searched for a few stops nearby, places where we wouldn’t run into a lot of people, but where I could get some fresh air and a change of scenery, even only for a couple of hours, without the risk of getting sick or contaminating others.
The first stop was the Valeplas. As I said before, I can hear the sea calling me and I really want to go (My name means ‘from the sea, my zodiac sign is aquarius, I am basically a mermaid), but that gorgeous deepblue sea that I long for, isn’t anywhere nearby, so the alternative was a local pond with some woods around it. It wasn’t too impressive, to be honest, and we only saw Germans there (which maddened me. We have to stay indoors and these people are just crossing the border to go fishing at some unimpressive pond?) So we walked through the woods a bit, looked out over the water and then set out for our next stop.

The next stop was was the Carolina berg. It’s part of the Veluwe, where we have been a couple of times before. Breathing in the fresh air was really good. I love walking around in nature, and here it was quiet. We could hear the birds sing and the wind rustling the leaves of the trees.

I’ve always loved castles and we didn’t even know how close we lived to this one. The Middachten Castle and Gardens was our third stop. It was closed, of course, opening next week, but we still had a nice time walking around, peeking through the bars of the castle gardens and taking pictures of adorable lambs.

It was a beautiful area, with trees and flowers in full bloom. And the weather was really good. It was the perfect time to get out. Exactly what I needed!

I always love getting out into nature whenever I’m feeling down or in need for a change of scenery. I never even knew how close all of this was. We usually go out into the Veluwe and it was nice to discover some new cool places in the area.
