Rule #1 is that you gotta have fun

You guys, I just discovered the BEST museum in the Netherlands! Put this on your bucketlist and book your flights to Amsterdam, because you will want to visit Wondr!

The world is opening up again, and I couldn’t be happier! From the beginning of this month, the museums, bars and restaurants have opened again, and from June fifteen, the Dutch border opens for European tourists (Except for Sweden and the UK, I’m sorry!). Time for a trip to Amsterdam!

I had discovered a new museum in Amsterdam just a few weeks prior to the quarantine, so when we heard the good news, I immediately bought tickets for opening day. And we had such an amazing time. Wondr Experience is a pop-up museum that is essentially an adult playground (no, not like that). I haven’t had this much fun in ages! Pools filled with marshmallows, rooms filled with confetti and glitter, walking through paintings. It’s the most playful museum I’ve ever been to!

The website states:

WONDR is an immersive experience that blends visual magic with boundless creativity. a confetti-sprinkled world of color and sensation designed in collaboration with some of amsterdam’s most creative minds. focused on play in all its forms, our artistic funhouse invites you to explore, touch, sing, dance, share and let your imagination run wild.

It’s basically just one big playground for adults and it was simply amazing. I urge you all to go here for a couple hours of fun, laughter and confetti!

The pop-up museum is dived in thirteen different rooms, each one more amazing than the last. It’s an awesome place to take some cool shots (I took about 500 pictures inside), but it is so much more than that. It’s a few hours of laughter and uncomplicated fun! Step into a painting, take a dive into a swimming pool filled with marshmallows or color in the wall with one meter tall markers…

If you have been cooped up in your home for quite some time now, Wondr is the perfect way to snap out of the monotomy we have lived in. I haven’t laughed so hard in weeks!

I took about 500 photo’s! It’s so much fun to put your camera in sports mode and just play around while the camera captures it all. You can also use the Ipads in some of the rooms to make video’s or boomerangs. And if you’re not that into taking pictures, just leave your phone in your locker, go in and play!

It’s about having fun, going back to your childhood. You can really relax here for a bit and not think about the problems in the world, not worrying about anything. Wondr really let’s you play like a child again, not bothered by anything.

I mentioned the marshmallow pool a few times, it was easily my favourite room! Just the idea of swimming in marshmallows is super funny and something I never even knew I wanted to do (by the way, they are made from rubber, not actual marshmallows, so don’t worry about wasting food).

But I was also super happy in the ballpit. My mom never let us play inside ballpits because, let’s be honest, they are disgusting. But now I could play inside one gigantic ballpit and it was so much fun! Also, they assured us everything was cleaned six times more than they normally do, because of the virus. We had bought our tickets at the beginning of the day, right when the museum opened at eleven, so we where in the first time slot with just a few other people. If you’re worried about contamination, just book the earliest slot possible.

If you’re planning a trip to Amsterdam, make sure to buy tickets to this amazing museum. You won’t regret it, I promise!

    1. I really was so amazing! But it’s relatively new so maybe it wasn’t there when you visited. It’s a good reason to go back, though, if you ask me 😉
