Our first day in Florence had been lovely. We had seen the Duomo, the Ponte Vecchio and Il Porcelino. For our second day, we had bought afternoon tickets for the Uffizi, for it would be too hot in the city to be outside. For the morning, we decided to cross the Arno and walk towards Piazzale Michelangelo.
Just before the borders to the rest of Europe opened for us, we did a little bit of exploring our own country. Maastricht had been on my list for a while. I had been there once before and remembered the gorgeous bookstore that I really wanted to pay a visit to another time. And so we did!

Budapest was one of the first new cities I explored and I fell in love with traveling, as I did with practically every trip I took back then. The city is rich with culture and beautiful buildings, as well as cheap food and souvenirs.

Prague was really special. It was a location that I’d never thought of visiting, in the days before the plans to travel everywhere and anywhere. But I’m really glad our student’s association did decide to visit this city. Prague is lovely, rich with history, filled with beautiful architecture and great food. And best of all: the prices are low. Time for a Travel Guide to Prague!
Every year in university, our student’s association organised a trip abroad. We had been to Lisbon and Budapest already, and in our third year we visited Prague. It’s such a beautiful city with lots of history. On our first day there, we wandered around the city, leaving the old town for another day and focusing on the Charles Bridge, Prague Castle and The Golden Lane.
For our first time in Paris, we had seen all the highlights. The louvre, the Eiffel Tower, the Champs-Elyséés, the Notre Dame and The Sacre Coeur. My second time Paris was a romantic getaway with Boyfriend, to celebrate getting my Master’s Degree, with walks along the Seine, finding the most gorgeous version of my favourite book and seeing Monet’s waterlilies. To be honest, I don’t remember much from this trip. I just wanted to enjoy being free of my studies and being in Paris with Boyfriend, so I didn’t document much, besides the pictures I do want to show you of this fine city. Time for a picture gallery!
A while back, I visited the lovely city of Budapest with our student’s association. I can’t remember much of this trip besides the obvious highlights, such as the Fisherman’s Bastion, the Széchenyi Spa and the restaurant where we could draw on our placemats. I did keep a diary back then and I made lots of pictures (though, I have to say, my photography skills were pretty much non-existent at that time) so I want to write a few posts about the city of bridges!
In summer, we did a few trips in our own country. We had wanted to visit Giethoorn, also known as little Venice and when we were planning for a daytrip there, we saw that the lovely city of Zwolle was on the way. So we booked an high tea and visited the city when we were done in Giethoorn.
I love summer, I love spring and though I always complain I hate winter, I did have an amazing time in the winter wonderland that is Lapland. But my all time favourite season is Autumn, when it gets chilly and I can convince myself to turn the radiator on, grab a blanket and a book and hopefully, relax with a cat on my lap, while autumn storms are raging outside. Isn’t that the best?
I do come outside sometimes though, leaving my blankets and books at home to go on a little citytrip, wandering through a new city, enjoying the crisp air and the trees that get this beautiful golden glow. Just last week, we were invited for dinner with my parents-in-law and some other relatives that had come to visit. We were heading to the Belgian border and we thought, why not go earlier and make a fun citytrip out of it? We decided to visit Bruges, a lovely little medieval town that I hadn’t visited before, but has been on my list for quite some time now.
